The fifth season of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East raced into action at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) with the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup generation introduced to a regional race championship for the first time anywhere in the world.
For the 50th race in the history of the championship an unprecedented 20-car line-up for the opening round spanning eleven nations, including elite drivers from the UAE, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Bahrain take control of the stunning new 911 GT3 Cup. In the opening race, reigning champion Clemens Schmid saw off the challenge of Kuwait's Zaid Ashkanani in a battle that also witnessed the impressive debuts of Skydive Dubai Falcons duo, Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum and Saeed Al Mehairi.
